Arkansas Storm Shelters - Arkansas Rebate Program

The Arkansas Mitigation Branch has sponsored a statewide rebate program for persons who have installed storm shelters or safe rooms in their homes since January 21, 1999.

Act 646 increased the amount of State Hazard Mitigation funds from $1 million to $2 million. ADEM decided to use these new funds where the most good would be done; helping to save lives by providing an incentive to Arkansans for having shelters installed on their property.

The State offers up to $1,000 rebate or 50% of the total cost, whichever is less. To date the State of Arkansas has dispensed $10,174,356.00 to 10,500 citizens of Arkansas and because of the overwhelming response, it is hoped this program can be continued indefinitely.
